Hotel rooms are reserved in the Liaoning (previous name: Royal King) international hotel (link, map, Satellite) near the institute during the workshop. The conference room is M236 in the new building outside of the south gate of the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.


Arrival

From Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) to the hotel, it takes less than one hour by taxi or shuttle. Taking a taxi is the most convenient way to get around the city.

By Taxi: Follow the “taxi” sign on the indicator in the airport. Just show the map or the tag (tag.png) to the driver. The Liaoning international hotel locates on the south side of the 4th ring. Do NOT go with those persons who approach you and claim to have taxi in nearby places. They will charge much more. When you arrive, the cost is shown on a taxi meter, plus some highway toll fees. The total cost is about 100 CNY and no tips is required.

By Shuttle: Shuttle runs every 20 minutes between ~7:00 am and midnight. Just follow the “shuttle” sign on the indicator. You will need a ticket from the counter and the cost is 16 CNY per person. The shuttles are right outside the building. Take the direction to Zhongguancun (Shuttle Bus Line 5) and get off at the last station. The institute is located across the south road and the Liaoning international hotel is within 5 minutes walk distance.

Weather

The weather condition in Beijing can be found at Weather China. In November, the temperature typically ranges from about 0oC to 10oC. The relative humidity is on average about 57%.


Currency

Chinese Yuan (CNY) is the only accepted currency in most places. VISA and MasterCard are widely acceptable in hotels, shopping centers and large restaurants. Check google currency converter. 


Electronics

The power supply in China is 220 Volts/50 Hz AC. See right for the power sockets used in China.


Reminder

Please be noted that tap water in the hotel is not drinkable. Please drink water only from boiled thermal bottles, designated drinking buckets, or bottled water.
